YOUR ROLE AS A CASUAL PROJECT SUPPORT WORKER
Cork Simon Community currently has vacancies for the role of CASUAL
PROJECT SUPPORT WORKER. We are looking for compassionate and motivated
individuals with a keen interest in supporting adults affected by
homelessness. In this dynamic and rewarding role, you will work
alongside a team of dedicated staff, providing essential services and
supporting residents to build independent living skills. Your work
will be guided by Cork Simon’s values and models of care such as
Trauma Informed Practice and Harm Reduction.
This role provides a fantastic opportunity for continued learning and
professional development, with full support from your supervisor and
line manager.
SOME KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* EMERGENCY ACCOMMODATION: Assist with admissions, bed management,
and support in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and
safety in emergency shelters.
* SUPPORT RESIDENTS: Respond to the needs of residents, providing
for personal hygiene, clean clothes, meals, and laundry services.
* RELATIONSHIP BUILDING: Foster trust and respect with residents,
helping them make positive changes at their own pace.
* CARE PLAN SUPPORT: Assist Team Leaders and Project Workers in
implementing care plans and promoting independent living skills.
* HEALTH AND SAFETY: Conduct routine health and safety checks,
ensuring the shelter remains safe and secure.
* ADMINISTRATIVE TASKS: Maintain accurate records, manage petty
cash, and ensure proper documentation is maintained for resident care.
IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE:
* EXPERIENCE: Previous experience in a care setting is essential.
* COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Strong interpersonal and communication
skills.
* EMPOWERMENT: Ability to motivate and empower residents.
* KNOWLEDGE: Understanding of homelessness, mental health, and
substance misuse, along with related support responses.
* ATTENTION TO DETAIL: High standard of written and numerical
skills.
